Advantages of US Standard Skateboard Hardware
US standard skateboard hardware is compatible with all common skateboard tools. Unfortunately, there are no skateboard tools designed for metric hardware. When using metric screws, size M5 must be used. M5 nuts are significantly smaller than their US counterparts. To avoid damaging the truck baseplates, washers must always be used with M5 screws. For this reason, we recommend using US standard skateboard hardware.
Advantages of Phillips over Allen Head
If the tool slips during installation, a Phillips screw can usually still be tightened or loosened in an emergency. Allen or hex socket screws, on the other hand, often can only be removed by drilling once stripped.
